Summery of the Ordinance

Ordinance for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Honours Program


a. BBA (Hon's.) Program shall be of 4(four) year's duration divided into 8(eight) semesters. Every semester will consist of 19 (nineteen) weeks of which 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching, 1(one) week break and 3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examination.

b. There are 40(forty) courses of the program. Out of which 16 courses are core course (CCH). Year-wise distribution of courses is as follows:

c.

  1. For each course, there will be 3 (three) lectures in a week and each lecture will have one hour duration. Every course will carry 3(three) Credit hours.
  2. Each course shall carry 50 marks, out of which 20% shall be earmarked for inter evaluation. At the end of each semester there shall be semester final examination of 40 marks of 3-hours duration for each course conducted during that semester.

d. The scripts of the semester final examination shall be evaluated by double examiners system according to the following grading system.

e. A student shall have to attend at least 75% of classes to be held during the course period to appear at examination. In case of shortage of class attendance (no below 60%) of a student the Academic Committee of the concerned Department might recommend the student for appearing at the examination on reasonable valid ground.


f.

  1. For promotion from one year to the next year, a student shall be required to earn a minimum yearly Grade Point Average (except Viva-voce grades) of 2.0.
  2. Student failing to clear up the University dues of the year of study shall not be promoted to the next class.

g.

  1. For the degree of BBA(Hon's.) a student shall be required to earn (i) 126 credit hours including viva-voce of 6 credit hours, (ii) CGPA of 2.00 and complete the program in maximum of six academic years including the year of first admission into the program.
  2. The candidate carrying F grade in any course shall not be awarded the degree of BBA(Hon's).

 

h.

  1. Students earning F grade in any course in any year shall be required to improve the grade with next available batch(es). However, a student much complete the program within six academic years. Students earning D or C grade in any course may choose to improve the grade by appearing at the Semester Final Examination with the next available batch. The higher of the regular and improvement grades will be taken in the final results.
  2. A student earning D or C grade in any course will be allowed to appear at the Improvement Examination only once except through readmission. A student securing F grade in any course will be allowed to sit for the Improvement Examination a second time if he/she fails to clear the F grade at the first Improvement Examination. If, however, a student with an F grade in a course obtains a D or C grade in the first Improvement Examination he/she will not be allowed to take any further improvement Examination in that course.
  3. No improvement shall be allowed in the in-course test/home assignment/oral test marks and the grades earned in viva-voce.
  4. Improvement shall not be allowed once the degree is awarded.


i.

  1. A student failing to get a yearly GPA of 2.0 may seek readmission with the next availbale batch.
  2. On readmission grades earned by student in the proceeding year of readmission shall cease to exist and the student shall have to repeat the all course-works and examination.
  3. Readmission in a class-year shall be allowed only once and a student shall not be allowed for readmission in more that two class years during the entire program.
  4. On readmission the Roll numbers of the student will remain the same and every Roll number will carry with it the year of admission.

j. Student failing to earn yearly GPA of 2.0 after taking readmission in any year shall be dropped out of the program. A student earning F grade in any course after taking improvement examinations shall be dropped out of the program.

k. If any student adopts unfairmeans in any examination or home assignments, the teacher/invigilator shall report in writing to the Chief Invigilator/Chairman of the Examination Committee for onward transmission to the Disciplinary Board of the University for action as per University rules.

  1. A list of meritorious students who have been awarded the BBA (Hon's.) degree with CGPA of at least 3.85 shall be included in the Dean's Honours List of the years.
  2. Students who have earned GPA of 4.0 in any semester shall be included in the Dean's Merit list of the semester.


Ordinance for the Masters of Business Administration MBA Program

Duration of the Program:

  1. MBA Program shall be of 1(one) year duration divided into 2(two) semesters. Every semester will consist of 19 (nineteen) weeks of which 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching, 1(one) week break and 3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examination.
  2. The program will include teaching of 10(ten) course units distributed as follows:
  3. First Semester         : 5
    Second Semester    : 5
    Total No. of Course : 10
  4. For each course, there will be 3 (three) lectures of one hour duration in every week and each course will carry 3(three) Credit hours.
  5. Each course shall carry 50 marks.


Evaluation:

  1. Performance of the students will be evaluated as follows:
    In course tests and home-assignments, oral tests, etc. will carry 20 and the 2 (three) hour semester final examination will carry 80% marks of the course. At least two in-course test of one hour duration each and home assignments, oral test etc. will be conducted and evaluated by the course teacher(s). Two examiners will evaluate the Semester's final scripts in each semester and the Internship Report submitted by the students in the Second Semester.
  2. n each course total of (i) the marks awarded by the semester final examiners plus (ii) the average of the in-course tests, home assignment and oral-test marks if any, awarded by the course teacher, will be converted into letter-grades as follows:

Class Attendance:
A student shall have to attend at least 75% of classes held in a course to appear at examination. Provided that the academic Committee of the Department concerned may on special grounds and on such documentary evidences as may be necessary recommend marginal cases of shortage of attendance (not below 60%) for appearing at examination.

Degree Requirements:

  1. For the degree of MBA, a student of the program will require to earn (i) 36 credit hours including viva-voce weighted 3 credit hours and Internship Report weighted 3 credit hours; (ii) CGPA of 2.00 and complete the program in two academic years from the first admission into the program.
  2. For the degree of MBA, no grades from any source other than that of the prescribed 36 credit hours will be awarded.
  3. The candidate carrying F grade in any course shall not be awarded the degree of MBA.

Adoption of Unfair means:
If any student adopts unfair-means in any examination or home-assignments, Internship Report, the teacher/invigilator shall report in writing to the Chief Invigilator/Chairman of the Examination Committee for onward transmission to the Disciplinary Board of the University for action as per University rules.

Improvement of Grades:
A student earning D or C grade in any course will be allowed to improve the grade by appearing at the relevant Semester Final Examination with the next available batch once only. A student securing F grade in any course shall be required to clear the F grade by appearing at the relevant Semester Final Examination with the next available batch(es) two times only. If, however, a student with an F grade in a course obtains a D or C grade in the Improvement examination, he/she will not be allowed to take any further Improvement Examination in that course. The higher of the regular and improvement grades will be taken to prepare the final results.

Readmission:
A student failing to get a CGPA of 2.00 in the first and second semesters combined may seek readmission with the next available batch once only. A student earning F grade in any course after taking improvement examinations (F grade improvement) shall be dropped out of the program.

Dean's Honours List and Dean's Merit List:

  1. A list of meritorious students who have been awarded the MBA degree with CGAPA of at least 3.85 shall be included in the Dean's Honours List of the year.
  2. Students who have earned GPA of 4.0 in any semester shall be included in the Dean's Merit List of the semester.

Internship:
For Internship training, students will be placed in different Industrial Units/Financial Institutions. Students will have to submit individual report. The Internship Report shall have to be prepared in English. To evaluate the Internship Report, the Examination Committee shall recommend two examiners (1st and 2nd).

Computation of Grade Point Average:
The Grade Point Average (GPA) will be computed as under:
