The goals of this institute are as follows:

a) To provide facilities for advanced studies and research work on Environmental Science for M. Phil, and Ph.D. degrees, and Post-doctoral researches related to

• Structure and function of Environmental system consisting of living organisms and their physical surroundings especially, the dynamics of their interaction;
• Comprehension of ecosystems in order to develop salubrious and balanced Environmental;
• Preservation and enhancement of biological diversity;
• Application of the concept of Environmental quality for sustainable husbandry, and aquaculture;
• Development, management and use of renewable and perpetual natural resources;
• Climate change and its impact of Bangladesh;
• National hazards and disaster management;
• Environmental Impact Assessment;
• Mitigation of Environmental problems caused by natural contaminates as well as anthropogenic ones, i.e., industrial wastes agricultural pollutants and domestic trash;
• Improvement of outdoor Environmental ranging from wilderness to urban landscapes'
• Environmental modeling and simulation;
• Environmental degradation affecting socio-economic structure and conditions of people;
• Interacting mechanisms between nature and society; and National and international Environmental socio-politico-economic and legal issues.
